The Following is a sample speech introduction to be written by speaker and given to the Toastmaster before the meeting begins. The Toastmaster will read it aloud:

“Brandon is speaking from the Competent Communication Manual,
Speech # 3 - Get to the Point.
Brandon’s objectives are to:
(Objectives are found in the blue sidebar for each speech in the manual.)

  • Select a speech topic and determine its general and specific purposes
  • Organize the speech in a manner that best achieves those purposes
  • Ensure the beginning, body and conclusion reinforce the purposes
  • Project sincerity and conviction and control any nervousness he may feel.
  • Strive not to use notes.

Brandon's time is 5-7 minutes.

Introduction:

This year has been a fresh start for Brandon. It all began when he tried a different approach to a common problem at work.  Listen and decide what approach you would have taken. Brandon's speech title is: "Was It Worth the Risk?"
